Answers. Isn't it odd how when you get the answers you want the most, they only leave you asking more questions? This seems to be the story of my life - constant answers that resolve in even more questions. But today I will be getting a question and then be searching for the answer. But what I’m worried about is if I want to find the answer. I have been happy without it for twelve years, will it ruin what I have now? The school bell rang and I went to my locker. Quin was leaning against it holding my backpack. His shaggy black hair stood out from the light grey lockers. When I reached him he handed me my backpack. “I got your stuff.” He said. I rolled my eyes. “No you used my locker code to get my stuff out of my locker which is supposed to be private.” I snapped back at him. He shrugged. “You could put it that way.” We walked down the busy middle school hallway and bumped into Em, my roommate from the orphanage. “Oh hey guys.” She sounded in a rush. Her long black curly hair was pulled back with a clip. She wore a pair of denim skinny jeans with a grey t-shirt and green converse. “You leaving?” I asked. “No, I have to go take my math test again. I got a C-.” My eyes widened. Even though she didn’t look smart she was a genius. She always got A’s. “Well will see you later.” I said. She walked down the hall toward the math room. I looked at Quin. “Is that possible?” He stood on his tippy- toes. “No, she just walked past the math room and down the hall out the back door.” I pushed through the crowd and ran down the hall. “No running Hazel Revta.” I came to a walk. Mr. Lincoln happened to be walking by. “In hurry?” His dark brown eyes and thin lips gave me an uncomfortable feeling. “Yes we are Mr. Lincoln.” Quin said respectfully. “Well I should let you two go, but Hazel, no running.” He gave me a glare. Once he passed, both Quin and me shot down the hall toward the doors. “Your such a suck up.” I revolted. “So, that’s the only way I get good grades.” He mentioned. I hit him on the arm. “What was that for?” “For not telling me that so I couldn’t get good grades.” I said perplexed. We stopped at the door and slowly opened it. I stuck my head out and she wasn’t in sight. We crept out and slowly slid down the wall toward the teacher parking lot. I peeked around the corner to find Em sitting against the wall holding a puppy. It looked like a little chocolate lab. It liked her hand and she laughed. “Hershey!” I pulled back and looked at Quin. “She’s holding a puppy.” I whispered. “Its name is Hershey.” He had to hold back laughing. “Shh!” I put my index finger to my mouth to tell him to “shush!” After he came over his giggles he spoke. “Lets see why she has the dog.” He whispered. We slowly came around the corner. “Hey Em. What are you doing back here? Right Quin?” He came around the corner. “What a surprise? What’s that you have Em?” Instead of being surprised she looked at us with an eyebrow raised. “You followed me?” We nodded. “We weren’t that stupid to believe that you failed a math test. Your a genius!” She smiled. “I couldn’t think of anything else.” I sat down next to her. “So who is this little guy?” She picked his up and put him on my lap. “Hershey. I found him in a box outside the orphanage this morning. I came back here every break I had to play with him.” Hershey now was biting my hand. “You should have told us Em.” I said. “We could helped.” I added. “Yeah I had a lot of extra time today.” Quin remarked. “Well you would have told me to take him to the animal shelter though.” “We may have but if you want to keep him we would have helped.” Quin said. “We got your back.” Em smiled. “Thanks guys.” She gave us both a hug. “ We should get back. Anne will be worried sick if were not home soon.” Quin worried. We got up and took Hershey with up. When we got back to the orphanage Anne was at the door. “Its 3:20. School got out 20 minutes ago. It takes 5 minutes to get home. Where were you?” Em pulled Hershey out of her bag. “Awe! I mean where did you find him?” “Outside in the alley.” Em said. “You know we can’t have pets Emilia.” The only time Anne called Em by her full name was when she was breaking a rule. “I know but Heather is a pet.” She pointed to Anne’s fat cat. Anne thought for a second. “If it gets out of hand,” Em gave Anne a hug. “Thank you so much!” Em ran up the stairs to our room while Quin went to his. Before I could leave Anne put a letter in front of me. I looked at her. Her green eyes were filled with tears while her mouth was smiling. Her long wavy red hair was hanging loose as she pulled it to cover her face. “Sorry I already opened it. You should read it. I can’t help but crying.” I opened the letter up and began to read: Dear Hazel, I loved since the first time I saw you. When you were born I just smiled. You always made me laugh. But when your father and me dropped you off at the orphanage, my heart broke. The only rea OMG! It cut me off! Hold on and I will get the rest!!! Never mind I can't but if you really want more tell me so I can write some more.

I recently moved out of an apartment that i lived in with two other people. Shortly right before i left they went and got a kitten. But the problem is that they already have a dog that is only a little less than a year old. Well the dog wouldnt stay out of the cats food so they put it on the counter. But the cat is only a kitten it cant jump up there. They are gone all day long and that cat gets no food. Even when they are their i never saw them feed the cat. Whenever i would put the food dish down for the cat they would get pissed and put it back up, instead of trying to keep the dog away from. My question is, would that be something that the humane society would do a legit investigation on, if i called that in. Ive never done that before so i wouldnt know. Not only that but the dog that they have they dont really take care of neither. Of course it gets more than enough food because they give it everything. As long as they have had that dog they have never gave it a bath clipped its nails, it doesnt even have its shots or tags or anything. Their dog has chewed everything of mine and they blame it on me for not putting all my stuff where their dog cant get it. It makes me mad to no end that people like this even has animals. Soo... if i called something like this is in. Would they investigate that. Ive never had to do anything like that so im just wondering.

Okay, I've been doing a lot of research on cat foods lately mainly out of interest and I've read different people who say dry cat food is bad and to avoid it completely and then other people say that as long as it's grain free and good quality then it's okay. I've grown up with cats and kittens my whole life and they have all lived long healthy lives and my parents always fed them Iams and other "lower quality" foods. With the exception of one cat who had kidney failure at 16, none of the other cats had uterine crystals or kidney problems or other problems associated with consistant dry food feeding. I've also read that people should read the labels and to avoid any products that use meat by-products. When I looked up what "by-products" are, I found out that it's stuff that people wouldn't want to eat (or think of feeding their cats), but then I wondered why they aren't so good since if a cat was to live outdoors, they would eat animals including the "by-products". Also, I've read that wet food is better to feed a cat in the long run over dry food, since it contains more water. Is dry food really that dehydrating to a cat's system, and can it be bad long term to feed mostly dry food? Basically, I currently have 3 older kittens. Two of them are 10 months old, and one is 9 months old. They are all spayed and neutered (I have two females and one male) and updated on all shots except the 1 year booster which they go for in July (the older two) and August (the younger one). They are given Frontline Plus for Cats once a month. They are currently eating Purina One Healthy Kitten Formula, which the main two ingredients are chicken and chicken by products. They always have dry food available to them, and fresh water in a jug that slowly dispenses and empties into a bowl that is changed and cleaned every other day so they always have fresh cold water. They get wet food (either Friskies, Whiskas, or Fancy Feast) once a week, and crunchy treats every day (one treat each per day). The older two get groomed once a week (they're medium hair) and the younger one gets groomed once every two weeks (she's shorthair). They get their nails clipped once or twice a month, teeth brushed weekly, and ears checked for mites and other things when I clip their nails. They also play regularly and are all a healthy weight. Now, my questions are: 1) Is "Premium" cat food really that much better than "Lower Quality" cat foods? What are some of the main differences? What is the main difference if the food is grain, corn, and/or soy free as compared to non premium foods, if the kittens are exercising and not gaining extra weight. 2) I've heard that most people use dry food because they think it works for tartar control. Since the dry food mainly just crumbles and serves no purpose for dental care, is wet food overall better for cats teeth or can the high moisture accelerate dental problems such as gingivitis? Should I brush my cats teeth more if I feed them dry food? They really hate it...lol! 3) What is the difference in the long run between feeding a higher quality vs. lower quality type food and is Purina One one of the better lower quality foods? Are my kittens not going to be as healthy as kittens that are fed higher quality grain-free type foods even if I take care of them all around? 4) Wouldn't cats eat the meat by products if they killed prey in the wild or if they were an outdoor only cat? Is that the same type of by products that are used in lower quality foods? Thank you so much for your help. The question of cat food has always been something that is controversial so I can never really get actual facts. Also, please keep my friend in your thoughts. She has to put her 14 year old Siamese cat down due to cancer on Saturday :'(

Ok, so she tells me last night she took them to the dr. and they were treated yesterday for pin worms. She said they had been itching their butts........ To my horror, here they come down the street into the cul de sac where my daughter and her two other little friends were playing. Both kids come up and hug me around my body. I was freaking out and didn't hug them back. My daughter didn't touch them directly, but touched a stick or something that they had touched. They took their medication yesterday morning to treat the pin worms, but if there are any eggs on the clothing, hair, ect of the kids, wouldn't that transfer to US ?? We immediately came in (I lied and told my daughter dinner was ready), we stripped of all of our clothes and washed hands very good with anti bacterial soap. I put a pair of laytex gloves on my daughter until I can run up the street and get a little pair of nail clippers since I cannot find mine. I read pin worm eggs get under your fingernails. Would all the moms/dads out there please tell me how they would deal with their neighbor/friend that brought her kids down here?? When I walked outside, I asked her "did you get the result of their stool sample back yet", she said No, but I think that's what they have. So, I'm sure it is what they have. She says "but they're not contagious"..OMG WHAT WOULD YOU DO ?!?!! Pinworms are like head lice...you have to bag all your stuffed animals, wash all bedding, linen, clothes. Pinworms live on surfaces like kitchen counters, toilet seats, surfaces, toys, ect. What is wrong with people like that?? My husband said my daughter yelled for them to come down and play. Thank God I had told my other neighbor with her two little kids and she scooped up her little toddler and after about 4 minutes told them the have to go inside. I quickly followed. 25 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. Additional Details ok, to those who think I'm overreacting....that is like letting your kids that have lice come for a playdate with your kids. Would you be up for that? I just got some nail clippers and clipped my daughters nails. Pin worm eggs live under your nails and when you eat and put your hands in your mouth, that is how you get infected. I just wanted advice on how you deal with a neighbor that REPEATEDLY brings her children around when they are contagious......I would NEVER bring my daughter around other kids if she pin worms, lice, strep throat, ect., but some people just don't seem to have much commen sense. I work in a childrens ER and we see it all, that's why I'm so conscionsious of germs and the things that children spread. If your kids have ever head lice or something similar, you know what kind of work it is bagging up every stuffed animal and washing clothes and bed linens in hot water every day for about a month.
