Resolved Question: My mum's dog is very sick (I think), I can't afford to take care of it as well as my animals and she has...?
Decided to move away unexpectedly and is dumping her on me.
She's a maltese cross poodle (just 1 years old) and I wanted her to get away from my mum because she is rather neglectful to animals and wanted to breed her but this is not the ideal time for me to be taking in another animal.
Her obvious problems are 1) A ridiculously over grown coat that a groomer needs to shave down, 2) I don't think she's had all her vaccinations, just the first one (she was bought from a pet store) and 3) She has a nasty ear infection and her ears are full of yellow mucus and black stuff.
When I've gone up there I've cut all around her face so she could see/breath/eat again without issue and I've cleaned out her ears as much as is possible with sterilized clothes and cut out as much of the black as possible but she does need a vet.
I'm thinking of calling up the rescue I'm with but 95% of the foster carers only take cats...
Please tell me what to do!!
I should add this dog has en locked outside for about a year now...
She's not socialized and bites and jumps on people and other animals.
Resolved Question: How do you clean a stuffed animal that says "surface wash only"?
My son has pinkeye, the 4th kid to finally get it--and I want to nip this illness in the bud! I'm washing all the bedding today and totally sterilizing the whole house, but the two stuffed animals he sleeps with both say "surface wash only". What? How do I wash these?
These two are the kind with the beads, so when it says "surface wash only", it means it! Should I just use Resolve then? Will that kill the bacteria from the eye infection?
Resolved Question: FLEAS- had home exterminated what else can i do?
I moved into a home and I have no animals except a bird. After a few days after completely moving in I found out that fleas were here. The house had been rehab and empty for some time. What I learned was that fleas lay dormant for a long time. By the way it is winter here and very cold temps dropped below zero. Anyway I did my own combat with setting off bombs with a fogger. Less that a week later they were back bitting me.
Then had the house professionally treated...they treated all the floors with a spray (I HAVE MOSTLY HARDWOOD FLOORS EXCEPT THE BASEMENT AND THIRD FLOORS ARE CARPETED) ON THE WAY OUT THE EXTERMINATOR SAID HE WOULD DO AN ARESOL. I STAYED OUT LONGER THAT 6 HOURS WHEN i CAME BACK I COULD STILL SMELL THE STUFF VERY STRONG IN THE HOUSE.
After over 24 hours we returned. I was told not to mop near the baseboards. I vaccumed all floors continuously even the wood floors mopped kitchen middle of the floor and bathroom. I didn't mop any other hardwood floors yet.
I washed linen but still have lots of clothes to wash
My bird still hasn't returned home yet we have to clean her cage.
I run a business out of m home and before clients come I want these things gone and IHATE bugs esp tiny ones you can't see that bite.
What else should I do. My body chemistry seems to attract them and I have yet to begin to enjoy my new home. Do you think the extermination worked? Will they come back? He said stuff he used kills adults, eggs and sterilizes them from laying more eggs. What else can I do?
Thanks
Resolved Question: Tattoos, Hepatitis Test!?!? NEED ADVICE!?
Not too long ago my friend was joking saying that my eyes look very yellow but he was kidding, I'm a panic freak and hypochondriac so when I went home I had my whole family look at my eyes and check if they're yellow and they all said no (my mom works at an animal hospital and sees jaundice all the time too) we even compared eyes and if anything their eyes look the same as mine, just a tiny little tint of yellow on the sides, my eyes are also blood shot often (I even compared eyes with friends too).
But just to be safe, when I went for a physical this just passed Tuesday (today's Friday). I told my doctor to look at my eyes and she said they have a little tint of yellow on the sides but that's only because I told her to check them. Keep in mind, She Hates Tattoos! so she told me to get a hepatitis C test!! now I'm freaked out. She said she doesn't think I do, because she told me if I had hepatitis my eyes would look really yellow along with my skin, tongue, etc. but it's only a little tint which from me comparing eyes with 10 people show me that it's obviously normal. When I asked her if she recommended everyone to get a hepatitis C test she said "everyone with tattoos should get one, yes" so is this just because she hates tattoos and to be safe??? the tint of yellow is normal right?? my whole family basically guaranteed me that I don't have hepatitis, my sister (34 years old) was even watching my friend while he did the tattoos and watching that the needles were fresh, clean, sterilized, packaged, etc. my doctor also pressed on my stomach during my physical and felt my liver twice to check if it was swollen or inflamed and it was NOT. When she told me to get the hepatitis C test she also wrote down to get my bilirubin, cholesterol, and blood platelet count checked. But isn't that the normal stuff to be checked in a blood test?
ALSO: I do NOT drink or do drugs and I NEVER snorted or used drugs with a needle or anything like that, because I know that can be a cause of Hep and I just want to rule that out now.
Here Are Some pictures of my eyes. Keep in mind that everyone I compared eyes with looks the same and they all told me that this is normal because of the veins and everything located on the sides of the eyes, they said my doctor is only being over protective because of me having tattoos....
