Voting Question: Unsure about the RSPCA?
Hi everyone, I phoned the RSPCA on saturday and i don't know if i did the right thing by phoning them and i guess i just want to know what you would have done? I naively phoned them thinking that there was a small possibly that they could do something? After all they are supposed to care about animals? I was going through a very busy and very noisy shopping high street. There was crowds and protesters in this particular area that i was passing through. I could see a man with something white on his arm. I looked out of interest to see that the man had a white rabbit stuffed underneath his arm. The rabbit wasn't supported properly as it was just grabbed under the waste and the poor thing was petrified. I got the impression that it might have been a lab rabbit and it was very scared. The man was quite cocky, a little sinister looking and i got a bad feeling about him. I tried not to judge him but i got upset about how scared this rabbit was. I also couldn't believe that this man would carry a small animal through a very busy shopping street. I wouldn't have been as bad if it was in a basket or something and the owner was trying to get from a to b with it, but this bunny was stuffed under his arm and could have easily wriggled free. If it did it was going to definitely get trampled on or run over by a car. So i got upset about this rabbit and called the RSPCA. I wasn't going to originally but i was angry with the way this rabbit was being treated and he could have been out to just dump or do something awful? It didn't look right to me? And i couldn't bare to think that there was perhaps something that i could have done and coward away and didn't actually try to help? I wasn't expected any RSPCA offer to come out and seize this rabbit and take it away if the man was still found hovering around the area (he was hovering around when i left the scene and talking to other people near this protest area), but i did wonder if someone from the local RSPCA shelter may have been able to come out and have a patrol and if they seen this man, move him along? I wondered if anyone could talk to him and try to educate him not to talk a rabbit out without being secure in a cage when in the street and maybe even take the rabbit and deliver it back to it's home? I didn't know if this was possible? I certainly didn't want to make a malicious call or anything like that but i did want to alert someone who could have come to help the rabbit? To make him take it home? If he did dump the rabbit, maybe if they were aware of a dodgy character hanging around and they patrolled, maybe they would have found the rabbit and could have collected it and taken it back to the local shelter safely. I just felt so bad for this poor little thing and had such a bad gut feeling about it? So when i called, the operated was in my opinion a little aggressive in tone? I don't know if he was a little angry with me for phoning? Or thought i was a time waster or something? He did agree with me after i explained what i seen that the rabbit wasn't being well treated but said that they couldn't come out due to lack of resources? So in the end nothing could be done. I just hope this poor little rabbit is ok? But it seems to me that if the RSPCA looked at how it spent it's money, maybe it could fund some officers to walk the streets when they get reports just to check things out? Not necessarily do anything but just check the situations? Because if more potential animal cruelty cases could be stopped before they happen by listening to the warning signs of the general public, then surely more animals could be saved from ever suffering more serious neglect? Glad i got that off my chest? Don't know if you agree with me or not, but any thoughts or even personal experiences would be nice to read? Because i'm really a bit bewildered by the RSPCA and i have always believed that they do good work and always try their best in the past? Feeling confused and upset.
Resolved Question: Question about vegans / vegeterians / 'meateaters'?
I've debated alot with some vegan/vegeterian friends of mine, and online. They seem to be extremly pushy to a point they give me the impression they are trying to convert you in a cult. I've seen racist behavior, i've seen incredible insults etc. However, this is where i think they are wrong : A. Vegans need nutrition pills cause lack of dairy/meat shatters their nerve system which becomes irreversable. Plus those nutrition pills are made from animals as well, so.. isn't that ironic? Plus if it was as healthy as they support, they wouldn't need nutrition pills. B. A balanced diet is Weat/bread/dry beans (lentil and stuff) etc > vegetables/greens > dairy > meat (once a week) atleast that is what we were told at school, and that you can do without meat if you consume dairy. Question : Why don't people do that diet? all 3 categories. Why are vegans so eagar to convert everybody to a point of lecture and violence? i haven't seen a vegeterian being so violent, ever. How do vegans expect to be accepted when they act so racist and snobby? and it's not even a good diet. I would understand a vegeterian if one came up to me and said 'you know something, you can do without meat if you consume dairy and if you add a hell lot more veggies your health will increase and you would never need suppliments, ever!' which that happened once, but atleast that guy brought to the table a very good reason, and analyised it for me. A vegan though was accusing me, insulting me, shouting at me, and was talking about rotting flesh in my stomach and such.. reminded me alot of religions going crazy and telling you you will burn in hell if you don't convert.. actually im asking more 'why'. Why take that measures? why twist everything we know in a wrong way without any backing it up? Who gets 'rich' by converting everyone in order for them to do it like religions did so many years ago? Put fear in people hearts. @trenardy Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anaemia : A lack of vitamin B12 ('B12 deficiency') is one cause of anaemia. Pernicious anaemia is a condition where vitamin B12 cannot be absorbed into your body. What are the symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency? Symptoms due to anaemia * Common symptoms include: tiredness, lethargy, feeling faint, becoming breathless. * Less common symptoms include: headaches, palpitations, altered taste, being 'off your food', and ringing in the ears (tinnitus). * You may look pale. Dietary causes It is unusual to lack vitamin B12 if you eat a normal balanced diet. Strict vegans who take no animal or dairy produce may not eat enough vitamin B12. If left untreated, problems with nerves can develop. For example: confusion, numbness and unsteadiness. These are uncommon as treatment is usually started when the anaemia is found, and before ***** nerve problems develop. Yes i have researched, and i said, i've talken to more than 2-3 vegans.. much much more
